What is regenerative medicine?

Regenerative medicine is a broad term for treatments that aim to work with the body's own repair processes, rather than simply managing symptoms. In aesthetic and wellness clinics it usually refers to treatments such as exosomes, stem cell preparations, peptides, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and polynucleotides. Some of these have a longer research history than others, and results vary by person. At Care at Home they are offered as clinician-led, supportive treatments, not as cures, and always after a health review.

What does the evidence say?

Research in this area is active and moving quickly, but it is uneven. Much of the evidence for exosomes and stem cell infusions in a wellness setting is early-stage or limited, while peptides and PRP vary widely by the specific product and use. That is why we describe these treatments as supportive, avoid promising outcomes, and ask your clinician to talk through what is and is not known before you decide.

Questions worth asking any provider

  • Who will administer the treatment, and are they licensed?
  • What exactly is in the product, where does it come from and how is it tested?
  • What is the evidence for this treatment and for my goal, and what are the risks?
  • Is the price clear, including how many sessions are suggested?
  • What happens if I have a reaction, and who do I contact afterwards?

What happens at your consultation

Your clinician reviews your health history, medications, allergies and goals, explains which treatment, if any, may be appropriate, and talks through the risks, realistic expectations and pricing. Peptide protocols may involve bloodwork first. There is no obligation to go ahead.

Who may not be suitable

Regenerative treatments are not right for everyone. Your clinician may advise against treatment, or ask for further tests, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active infection, have a current or previous cancer diagnosis, or have an immune-related condition. This list is not exhaustive, and the final decision is always made by your clinician.

Frequently asked questions

What is regenerative medicine?

Regenerative medicine is a broad term for treatments that aim to work with the body's own repair processes. In wellness and aesthetic clinics it usually refers to exosomes, stem cell preparations, peptides, PRP and polynucleotides. These are supportive treatments, not cures, and results vary by person.

Are regenerative treatments guaranteed to work?

No. Results vary by person and these treatments are not guaranteed cures. Your clinician discusses realistic expectations with you.

What is the difference between exosomes and stem cells?

Stem cells are living cells that can support tissue renewal, while exosomes are tiny messenger particles that cells release. They are different treatments, and neither is a guaranteed cure.

What is the difference between salmon DNA and PRP?

Salmon DNA (polynucleotide) uses purified DNA fragments from salmon to hydrate skin and support tissue repair, while PRP uses platelets concentrated from your own blood. Your clinician can advise which, or a combination, suits your goals.

Which regenerative treatment is right for me?

It depends on your goals and health history. Message us for a free consultation, or ask your clinician at your visit.

Are these treatments safe?
